Some designs (Bright Flowers, Minimalistic, all business designs etc) have a news section. Each news item in this section features short text and link to a "more info" page.

To archive news which are already old, but you wish keep them available on the site:
Please note that the News items are the same for all pages on the site that feature a News Area.
add News, you'll see an 
icon to the left / right end of your site. Rollover the
icon.
. Fill in the state,
date and short text for your news. 
dropdown choose what "more info" link should display. This could be some page
from your site, an external URL or
a new page.
You could now see your news on all pages, in Admin view. To make
them visible in Normal view, however, all
pages of your site should be published.
